VOLUNTEER

Our volunteers are the front-line for empowering our clients with their career development. We provide healing-centered and cultural competence training to ensure every woman we serve feels valued and is treated with care and respect.

When you apply to volunteer, you are signing up to attend a volunteer orientation session where you'll meet other new and current volunteers and staff members who will answer your questions.

Apply to volunteer with us, today!

All new and returning volunteers must complete our volunteer application, attend our volunteer orientation, and sign our liability waiver & confidentiality agreement before they begin volunteering at Dress for Success Twin Cities

Success Center Coach
Many of our clients face very difficult challenges and barriers to career success including domestic abuse, mental illness, and substance abuse. Our volunteer Career Coaches work in a team environment and  focus on encouraging our clients with a strengths-based and healing-centered approach. Career Coaches are not mental health therapists but may refer clients to mental health resources if needed.  Coaches start by attending our bi-weekly Wednesday night Coach meeting led by Licensed Social Worker Deb Sauder and our Personal Success Plan sessions held every other week to assess client coaching needs and readiness. On average coaches volunteer 3-5 hours a month but can do more or less based on personal and professional schedules. You will help our clients to best strategize their job searches and career advancement by creating and updating their resumes, cover letters, LinkedIn profiles, job applications, practice interviewing, negotiating salaries and benefits, and provide mentoring once they land a job to ensure they keep that job and continue to develop their career. All Success Center Coaches start their training by doing check-in calls with our current and past clients. Google Voice app is required, training provided. Coaching appointments are flexible based on your and the client’s schedules.

Warehouse and Delivery Volunteer
Warehouse volunteers assist with taking in clothing donations, sorting and prepping clothing, shoes, and accessories; assembling client Confidence Kits (clothing packages) and delivering packages to clients with transportation challenges.  Warehouse only shifts exist but are less frequent than shifts with delivery.

Donation Day Volunteer
Dress for Success Twin Cities has a public Donation Day event with nearly 200 clothing donors three times a year in April, August, and December. Join us for a very fun and energizing shift of taking in clothing donations from generous donors. It’s great exercise and you’ll get your steps in!

Zoom Tech Volunteer
Help set up our online Zoom programming classes, share your screen to assist Presenters, handle client questions, and take detailed attendance.
