Dress for Success Twin Cities launches new mobile confidence center to expand reach of its employment readiness services for low-income women
The Success Express brings career coaching, professional attire to women across Minnesota
ST. LOUIS PARK, Minn. – Dec. 1, 2022 – Dress for Success Twin Cities (DFSTC) today announced the launch its new mobile confidence center, The Success Express, which will travel across Minnesota to provide workplace attire and career support for low-income women. This new mobile unit, a converted RV featuring a beautiful custom design, will support and expand access to the services and resources DFSTC provides to help women launch successful careers. A public open house for the community to experience The Success Express will be held from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 3, in St. Louis Park.
“Every woman should have the skills and resources to feel confident tackling their career goals. This new mobile confidence center will help us empower more women through employment and long-lasting solutions that go beyond the signature attire we are known for,” said Dress for Success Twin Cities CEO Stephanie Silvers. “We are incredibly grateful to all of our donors and partners who helped turn our vision for this mobile unit into a stunning reality and can’t wait for the community to experience it.”
DFSTC offers a network of support, workplace attire and career coaching to provide women with holistic and individualized employment readiness plans and a path toward economic independence. This programming focuses on financial wellness, digital literacy, leadership development, building a positive network of support, and health and wellness, giving women skills they need to find and retain employment. The Success Express has a 314-square-foot interior with accessible dressing rooms, two meeting areas for coaching services, a beverage area, and ample storage for clothing and accessories, providing clients with numerous options to suit their needs and personal style.
With its services now mobile, DFSTC is partnering with organizations to reach more women who may have previously been unable to access its services due to transportation or other barriers. Starting in January 2023, the mobile confidence center will begin traveling to locations around the metro, with goals to expand into greater Minnesota.
“The unfortunate reality is that many women in Minnesota have difficulties finding and maintaining employment due to a lack of resources, information and support,” said Dress for Success Twin Cities Board Chair Toweya Brown-Ochs. “The Success Express eliminates transportation barriers and provides an opportunity for women across Minnesota to have a one-on-one, customized strategy to define their own path to success and achieve their employment goals.”
The mobile unit was designed by the pro bono division of Studio BV, Design Forward with contracting services provided by Gardner Builders. “We are so proud to have created such a unique and modern space that will be used to help so many women in our community take positive steps toward employment and financial stability,” said Studio BV Founder and CEO Betsy Vohs. “The Success Express has gorgeous finishes and a warm, welcoming feel that we hope makes everyone who enters feel calm and confident.”
Several local companies donated materials and services for the mobile confidence center, including Hennepin Made (lighting), Daltile (flooring), Carnegie (drapery), Hightower Furniture (benches and chairs), Cambria (countertops), Blu Dot (tables) and Emily Quandahl (mural). The Success Express is also made possible with financial support from these generous donors: Thomson Reuters, FS Foundation, Mardag Foundation, F.R. Bigelow Foundation, The Opus Group, Capital One and UPS.
