Arriving in Minnesota in 1982, Trinidad native Sharon Richards-Noel always had a passion for food and community. She loved to share the authentic taste of Caribbean cuisine with others and this would eventually manifest into West Indies Soul Food. With humble beginnings starting decades ago in a North Minneapolis church kitchen, West Indies Soul Food would go on to become a favorite at the Minnesota State Fair International Bazaar and Midtown Global Market thanks to the tireless efforts and tenacity of Richards-Noel. We’ll soon be able to visit a brick-and-mortar location planned for this summer on St. Paul’s University Avenue. Richards-Noel continues to fund raise and hopes the space can be another expression of her dedication to community as she plans to offer affordable, healthy meals as well as an extensive youth program she’s hoping to launch in the fall.
In the meantime, West Indies Soul Food is available for catering to help you wow guests at your next event or provide healthy, filling meals for schools and daycares.
