What Dress for Success Twin Cities Means to Our Community

As we celebrate 15 years of Dress for Success Twin Cities, we’re centering the voices of the people who make this work real. This organization has always been powered by community—and what better way to honor that than by hearing directly from those who have walked alongside us?

When we asked our supporters to share what Dress for Success Twin Cities means to them, the responses reflected more than gratitude. They spoke to growth, transformation, and the ripple effect of empowerment. Across these stories, three themes emerged.

Full-Circle Empowerment

Several responses reflected a personal evolution—from receiving support, to becoming someone who gives it. This full-circle impact is at the heart of what we do: walking with people as they grow, and seeing them return to walk with others.

“I have been in a place where I needed services like yours. Now that I am in a place to give back, I love to be able to support and empower women in the Twin Cities.”
— Lisa King-Porter, Office Manager at GMB Capital Partners

“Volunteering with Dress for Success Twin Cities and helping women on their path to employment is incredibly fulfilling. Cheers to 15 years!”
— Amy Farsht, Strategy, Brand Partnerships and Consumer Engagement

“I'm so proud to support an organization that walks alongside people building their futures! Excited to see what the next 15 years bring!”
— Kevin Vig, Managing Director of Client Partnerships

More Than Clothing – A Mindset Shift

While suiting is a part of what we do, these reflections highlight something deeper. Dress for Success Twin Cities helps individuals discover their potential and redefine what success means for them—on their terms.

“Dress for Success means that anything is possible for individuals who are curious about learning more about themselves and willing to try new things. It’s about more than just professional attire—it’s a mindset that encourages self-discovery, growth, and stepping into your full potential.”
— Juliana Martignacco, Resource Specialist Connector

“To me, DFSTC is a holistic approach to help women become the best version of themselves. Whether the success is through expanding emotional intelligence, financial or digital literacy, growing a network, or gaining confidence through opportunity—it all matters.”
— Leah M., Co-Founder + President of LITLab

“I love the Dress for Success mission. I've experienced some of the challenges/barriers that DFSTC helps women overcome to build better futures for themselves, their families, and their communities. Ask anyone who has been involved with DFSTC—yes, the success kits include clothes, but it's not just about dressing for a part. It’s about helping women grow from the inside out.”
— Marti O’Donnell, Operations Director, Minnesota Natural Gas

A Community of Hope and Possibility

Others spoke to the spirit of the community—the resilience of the clients, the dedication of volunteers, and the collective energy that fuels transformation. At its core, Dress for Success Twin Cities is about showing up for one another.

“I am constantly in awe by the people connected to Dress For Success. Not only for the generosity and kindness, but for the resilience these women demonstrate. It is truly inspiring and I'm proud to be even a little part of it all.”
— Stephani LaMantia, Account Executive

“I love Dress for Success! They provide hope, confidence and life altering transformations. Keep up the fantastic work!”
— Amy Beckrich, Strategic HR Business Partner

“I love DFS mission—connections, helping and supporting others, community work. As a Personal Stylist, I love helping other women to look and feel great in clothing they wear through DFS. Different programs that DFS offers to their clients have helped thousands of women to achieve their goals, to become more independent, to get a job, and to get out of their comfort zone. I am truly grateful to be part of this great organization.”
— Sara P Darst, Personal Stylist

Fifteen years in, we’re still growing—and that’s because of people like you. Your voices remind us that success isn’t linear, and it’s never solitary. Thank you for being part of this mission, for sharing your stories, and for continuing to show up for one another.

Here’s to what we’ll build together next.
