Superpower: Problem Solving

Picture
Dress for Success Twin Cities has given Cindy renewed confidence and connections so she can swiftly and happily use her superpower of problem solving. “I’ve always been a strong event coordinator and like every good event, something will likely fall off track— whether it’s a speaker not showing up or something unforeseeable— and fixing the issue quickly is when I shine,” Cindy says. “You have to think on your feet and seamlessly solve the problem fast. I can do this; and quick problem solving is helpful in many situations.”

There was time that Cindy wasn’t able to fully use her superpower however and that is when she arrived at DFSTC. She came to DFSTC a few years ago looking for guidance on getting a new job and some help in feeling deflated and alone after job layoffs. “I didn’t have much confidence because of the job losses and not having the best managers, and I had a bit of PTSD from those experiences. I needed to feel that I wasn’t the only person out there that has experienced these issues; at Dress for Success Twin Cities, I was able to connect with a wonderful community of women with similar experiences. Through these friendships and this support, along with the Dress for Success Twin Cities classes, I’ve gained my confidence back.”

While Cindy is back in the work force and able to utilize her superpower for all to benefit, she still stays connected with five important women she met during her Professional Intelligence Course. “We check in on each other every few weeks to see how our current jobs are or how job searches are going; it’s been really great to have that ability to just check in with people and support each other. The sense of community is strong at Dress for Success Twin Cities.”
