When Astrid first moved the United States she knew very few people and struggled finding a support system. Astrid is a survivor, and moved to the country seeking safety for herself and her children. Once she found Dress for Success Twin Cities, she was home. She said that, "coming to Dress for Success was my first happy day in the U.S." She felt welcomed and supported in all the things she wanted to accomplish.
Dress for Success Twin Cities has provided Astrid a place to grow her confidence and find a positive network of support. She says, “Dress for Success gave me the joy, the power of being myself, and the encouragement I needed.” She appreciated being treated as a professional, and it makes her proud to know that she has a place to continue growing. Astrid has been working one-on-one with a career coach to work on her resume and prepare for her next interview.
A few weeks ago, "I went for the interview and I wasn’t sure. The interview was on Friday, on Monday I was offered the job." Astrid is confident and she's able to support herself and her family with sustainable employment. She thanks Dress for Success for supporting her and says, “I look at myself, and I say 'without Dress for Success I wouldn’t be where I am'.”
